Ashbury Colts Junior Football
This season the Ashbury Junior Colts lead by captains: Jake Hamm, Sascha Jammes, Kyler Wong, Riley Taggart, Kyle Charron finished the regular season with record of 5 and 1. This recorded allowed the Junior Team to finish 1st in the CISAA league. The Junior Colts matched up against rival St. Michael’s College in the final and were victorious in very hard fought game. The Junior Colts displayed tremendous teamwork and were crowned Champions of the Canadian Independent School Junior Football League for the second year in a row. This victory allowed the team to represent the CISAA league in the Junior provincial championships. In the first round of provincial play-offs the Junior Colts defeated a very aggressive Centennial team from Bellville. This victory gave the team a birth in the provincial semi-finals in which they faced a very talented Pickering side. Despite an outstanding effort by all players the Junior Colts fell short of making it into the provincial finals.
This edition of the Junior Football team was comprised of a tough and rugged offensive group complemented by a fast and hard-hitting defense. The team which was made up of player’s grade 8, 9 and 10 age was lead by a solid group of captains and all the players showed great commitment and dedication throughout the season. The players should be commended for their efforts and for continuing the great tradition of Junior Football at Ashbury. The team looks forward to defending its championship next season.
