The Molson Library & Resource Centre
The Molson Library and Resource Centre was donated by the Molson Family Foundation and Cynthia Molson Baxter.
The library at Ashbury College is a spacious, bright and welcoming place that serves the entire school from Grades 4 through 12. It seats approximately 80 students and features wireless access and a comfortable reading environment. The library is equipped with desktop and laptop computers for student use in the library, as well as an electronic classroom complete with Smartboard. Three project rooms are available for small group study.
Several qualified teacher librarians and library technicians staff the library. Their main objective is to ensure that students acquire and develop the information literacy skills necessary to achieve academic success in school and to navigate our increasingly information-driven society. The library partners with teaching staff to meet the requirements of the curriculum and to support classroom information and research needs. Library staff are always available to work on an individual basis with students.
Research resources include 60 periodical subscriptions, 17,000 books, a reference collection, numerous subscription databases and a growing collection of DVDs. Most of the subscription electronic databases and encyclopedias may be accessed from home. In addition, the collection supports the recreational reading interests of its students, including bestsellers and high interest series.
Special events during the year include author visits, book talks, a reading club, and monthly social gatherings.
