How would you describe the Ashbury Advantage?

I would describe the Ashbury Advantage as learning new skills. At Ashbury, there are multiple events, clubs and committees that are available to participate in. Ashbury teaches you how to balance your time effectively. Participating in clubs and still meeting academic requirements is a challenge, but is possible because time management is a skill learned at Ashbury. Ashbury is also located in the nation's capital. This brings lots of international students to the school making it a great way to learn about other cultures. Through the international students, there is a lot of learning that takes place outside the classrooms.

What's one thing you want prospective students to know about Ashbury?

One thing I would want prospective students to know about Ashbury is there are numerous activities to do. Whether you are into athletics or arts there is something for everyone. You may not be the top athlete, the top artist or the smartest person, but you can still be involved in all areas. Participation is always encouraged. There are recreational sports, arts clubs, and you can be on committees for events if you love creative thinking.

There are many advantages to Ashbury such as its multicultural aspect. You get to meet people from all around the world, learn new cultures and lifestyles. Ashbury also has a great IB program open to students, which opens up many more university choices for you.

How would you describe the Ashbury Advantage?

I love the many extra curricular activities that are available to the students. Over the last two years, not only have I participated in Concert Band, Jazz Band and clubs such as Dance, Glee, Debate, World Issues and Environmental, but I also have had the opportunity to start my own club! I was the founding editor of The Ashbury Arrow, the Junior School student-run newspaper. Through this opportunity, I learned a lot about leadership.

What's one thing you want prospective students to know about Ashbury?

Ashbury is a warm and welcoming school with a close-knit family-type community. From the first time you visit and meet your shadow friend for the day, you will feel at home. You will also have the chance to participate in various activities from sports to the arts.

How would you describe the Ashbury Advantage?

I believe the Ashbury Advantage is characterized not only by Ashbury's excellent academic program, but also by the amount of opportunities offered by the school that allow students to pursue their interests. There are many extra-curricular activities offered at Ashbury that supplement the learning done in the classroom and teams where students can stay active and involved. There are also many programs, like the Round Square and Duke of Edinburgh, that provide students with the ability to go on trips and learn experientially as well as learn new skills outside the classroom.

What's one thing you want prospective students to know about Ashbury?

I would like prospective students to know that the Ashbury community is a family. Everyone at the school, all faculty members and students, are incredibly supportive of everyone else. Everybody will ensure that you feel included and actively engaged in all school activities.

How would you describe the Ashbury Advantage?

Ashbury offers a lot of advantages, both academic and co-curricular. There are so many activities and clubs to join that enhance your academic skills, as well as extra help offered by the teachers, who want you to prosper and succeed and always make sure you are doing the best you possibly can. As for the co-curriculars, there are so many options for activities, which help you make friends, increase your skills in either sport, creative or scientific aspects and solidify your sociability and sense of belonging, as well.

What's one thing you want prospective students to know about Ashbury?

All aspects of the school are astounding; the teachers and students are friendly and welcoming, the facilities are amazing, and you find yourself easily thriving in the Ashbury community. The courses offered at the school appeal to students with wide ranges of interests and help narrow your focus for the future. While the teachers help advance your academic excellence, your peers are always accepting of who you are and happy to be your friend.

How would you describe the Ashbury Advantage?

I would describe the Ashbury Advantage in two words: life changing. We are given so many opportunities to get out of our comfort zone and try new things. From meeting new people on a conference in South Africa to making an announcement in assembly, there are new challenges for everyone. I feel I am incredibly blessed to have the opportunity to attend such an amazing school.

What's one thing you want prospective students to know about Ashbury?

One thing I'd want perspective students to know about Ashbury is the family environment we have. There are so many opportunities to meet people outside of your classes, whether it's through clubs, sports, committees or student leadership positions. On top of all that we also have the House system, which allows us to compete in friendly competitions against each other and gives our students more spirit and a way to unwind from the work.

How would you describe the Ashbury Advantage?

The Ashbury advantage is unlike any other schools within the Ottawa. Here at Ashbury, we are not just one big scary school. Ashbury is one of three schools within Ottawa to offer the International Baccalaureate program. This program gives Ashbury students that extra advantage going into university. Alongside our academic advantages, Ashbury offers residence for boarding students. This allows students to have a very diverse classroom. In my opinion, the Ashbury Advantage is the preparedness of their students. Ashbury gives students an advantage, not only in academics, but it also prepares them for their future within the real world.

What is one thing you would want prospective students to know about Ashbury?

I would really like these students to know that the teachers are some of the most caring and understanding teachers in the world. Students coming into Ashbury should really get to know and make good relationships with their peers but also with their teachers because you will be spending four years with these influential people. By having this fun relationship, class is much more enjoyable and any material becomes easy to learn.

How would you describe the Ashbury Advantage?

I'd describe the Ashbury Advantage to be many things. I consider it to be the understanding and supportive environment, and I consider it to be level of education provided to students. I consider Ashbury to be a place where I can be myself and not worry about judgment, and where I can grow and learn and develop my interests and find my passions.

What's one thing you want prospective students to know about Ashbury?

I just want people that may attend Ashbury to know how supportive this school really is. On arrival, you may think otherwise because Ashbury is a private school and therefore applies to all the stereotypes associated with private schools, but that's not the case at all with Ashbury. The teachers, staff, and students are amazingly supportive and I know of no teacher that wouldn't spend extra time with you to help you out with something, or of one student that wouldn't do the same. I know of no one in this school that wouldn't support you through anything and everything.
